People with disabilities in the Dominican Republic often have little to no access to the support they need. In a culture where community is central to daily life, many are left isolated in their homes, unable to fully participate in relationships, church, or public spaces.
Stigma and misunderstanding can lead families to feel shame or pressure to hide a loved one’s disability. As a result, many families remain disconnected from the church—either because of physical barriers or fear of judgment—missing out on the community and hope they were created for.
